Maintenance of my mobile bed

The majority of your mobile bed is made from Landes maritime pine, with medium wood used for the facing. Wood, whatever its type or finish, is a natural material requiring special care. Regular maintenance is essential, but a few inappropriate gestures or the use of unsuitable products can damage your furniture.

Here are the essential rules to follow for optimal maintenance:

1. Remove dust before cleaning

Before any cleaning operation, remember to remove dust from your wooden furniture with a soft cloth. This simple but crucial step prevents dust from mixing with products and leaving marks.

2. Never pour cleaner directly onto wood

Because wood is porous, it can absorb liquids, especially when untreated. So, to avoid unwanted stains, always apply the cleaning product to a cloth rather than directly to the furniture surface.

3. Avoid abrasive products

Using abrasive utensils, such as the rough side of a sponge, can damage the protective finish and create micro-cracks. Use lint-free microfiber cloths for delicate cleaning.

4. Respect the direction of the wood

When cleaning, especially on unfinished pine, always follow the grain of the wood. Movements in any direction risk creating micro-cracks and damaging the surface.

5. Choose natural products

Chemical products can clog wood and leave a sticky film. For regular maintenance, use natural, effective solutions such as soapy water or black soap. To remove light soiling, use diluted vinegar. Finally, to restore the shine of your furniture, apply linseed oil.

Your mobile bed is set up to be balanced at all times, just like a scale, for example. When you change your sheets, you’re bound to alter this balance, and your bed will rise again on its own when you remove your comforter.

To avoid this, there are a few simple steps to take before changing a sheet:

1- I lower my bed tray to its lowest setting.

2- I get my safety pin.

The safety pin is the small 17 cm metal rod supplied with your bed.

3- I insert my safety pin in the hole provided between the bed frame uprights.

4- I can now change my sheets in peace without the bed tray rising.

Your mobile bed is made from solid pine. Solid wood is a living material that evolves over time, adapting to the temperature and humidity conditions of the room in which it is installed. Over time, minor adjustments may be necessary to ensure that your bed stands firmly on its 4 legs.

There are 2 possible solutions to this problem.

1- The bed is very difficult to lower.

You’ve made a change to the bed’s counterweight setting, and may have added too much weight. In this case, the bed is not “blocked” but simply too heavy to handle. In this case :

• Reposition your safety pin to lock the bedplate in place.
• Remove the counterweight cover
• Remove weights from the cabinet
• Replace the assembly
• Try lowering your bed tray again

2- The bed tray is really blocked in height.

This can happen, for example, when the bed tray is raised too quickly. Don’t panic, your bed isn’t broken, but the structure’s cable is probably out of true.

Your mobile bed is set up to be balanced at all times, just as a scale might be. Here are a few examples of what can change the balance of your bed:

-Many of us change our comforter depending on the season. A summer comforter does not have the same weight as a winter comforter, and sometimes the difference in weight between the 2 can be significant.

-Another example could be changing a mattress that doesn’t have the same weight as the previous one.

– Let’s not forget your children’s favorite cuddly toys. Depending on how many of them are on the bed, the weight will vary.

All this can alter the balance of your “scale” and cause your bed to rise or fall on its own.

Don’t worry, balancing is very simple:

Small everyday adjustments (weight ranging from – to 3.5kg)

• – If the bed goes up on its own, simply add one or two weight bars under the box spring of the bed plate.
  • – If the bed goes down on its own, simply remove one of the two weight bars located under the box spring from the bed plate.

For large changes (weight over 3.5 kg)

• Secure your bed in the upright position using the safety pin supplied with installation.
• Remove the counterweight cover panel using a suction pad (see diagram)
• Add (if the bed goes down by itself) or remove (if the bed goes up by itself) weight in the counterweight.
• Replace the components once the operation is complete.
